OK, I tracked the error message down to the comm package.  I don't think 


comm is at fault, but now I don't blame TclUDP either.  I'm not sure 


what kind of network flakiness would disable ping, break comm without 


actually breaking the comm connecton, but still allow enough of a 


connection that the remote app somehow knows that comm is *trying* to 


talk to it.



Any ideas what can trigger this error?
