That link says "BLT (?) and Xbit support tiled images."

BLT handles button, checkbutton, frame, radiobutton, scrollbar, and
toplevel, but not text. Too bad

I will edit the wiki to remove the timid interogative, replacing with
more info.

You might want to consider searching for transparent background support,
which is another way to see background images.
