According to etdxc at yahoo.com <"etdxc at yahoo.com">:
:Great idea. However it's a bit like preaching to the converted. I think
:we should be swamping CNET/downloads.com with 'free' Tcl toys and tools,
:with the aim of attracting a larger following or at least letting the
:wider audience know the language exists.

Certainly submissions to various popular download sites would be
appropriate.

But, if you permit me to suggest one thing. It might be useful to first
talk to the authors of the applications before submitting them.

Why?

Well, let's see. Articles on sites like slashdot have been known to cause
a person's web site to be overwhelmed - in some cases, where one is paying
bandwidth costs by some bits transferred amount, to the detrement of the
author. And I would think it would be a negative thing to cause someone
to go into debt over the advertising

Next reason, if the author no longer wishes to support the tool,
they probably would not appreciate getting the email questions, etc.
that unexpected advertising might cause.

Obviously other factors would be to ensure that the poster knows
for certain the current web address, which platforms the author
supports, etc.
