That depends very much on which level you are one. If you are a
beginner, any introduction to abstract algebra should be acceptable.
I learnt algebra from Fraleigh's 'A first course in abstract algebra'.
Koblitz' 'A course in number theory and cryptography' contains an
introduction both to basic number theory and to elliptic curves,
as well as very basic cryptography. I haven't read Shoup's book,
but I expect it to be very good.
