One time pads

The concept of a OTP is familiar to me, however there is one thing I do
not understand about them:

Suppose Alice wishes to send a message M to Bob. Bob has the OTP key,
and alice encrypts M with the OTP key, then destroys it. Pretend that
Bob doesnt want this message decrypted until one week later, and thus
he needs to keep the OPT key untill that time (otherwise there will be
no way to decrypt it!). Where and how is this OPT key kept until
decrpytion??
