Proper passwords hashed with MD5 [and a salt] should be fine.

Passwords likely to be entered on a CELL PHONE are not.

Get it?

People are lazy and will cut corners where they can. I hate typing SMS
on my "el-piece-o-shit" cell phone, why would I want to try and type
out a good 12-16 digit password every time I type a message? A PGP key
specifically for the phone [e.g. can tolerate being lost] would be much
easier.

At anyrate just let it go. Anyone who had even the slightest interest
in your product has long since been discouraged by your non-stop
rampage of low-quality thought processes. So you've been your own
biggest enemy in your endeavour to restore a quality image to the
CryptoSMS name.
