Nonsense. Copyright law is clear: If it has a copyright notice (not to
mention the click-through EULAs every software package has now), it's
yours, and people have to be licensed by you to do anything with it
that isn't covered under fair use rights. No 'enter this license key to
prove you know this isn't yours' nonsense is required.

Going by your reasoning, I could copy as many audio CDs as I want, then
when taken to court over it claim "I didn't know it wasn't free,
because I didn't have to enter a license key!"
