You guys are arguing about the wrong thing.

It is totally a money thing.

The game designers and project managers for the large game houses are
the rock stars of the programming world.

They make wicked bucks and have super-plush working environments. It
is not surprising to see guys with ten of their own computer systems,
special rooms to sleep and shower at work, killer catering, and an
all-around plush environment.

True they work at high-intensity, but things are done to make them
_want_ to stay at the office. And these things cost money.

Its all about money. They are always rushing to release.

These guys are wearing Armani suits and driving expensive imported
automobiles. They are not going to want to take a step down, OK?

If you have a team of guys and the resources to design and release a
successful game, you will make a lot of money.

Millions of US and Canadian dollars and Euros.

That is not certain in the Linux world. It is certain in the Windows
world. I don't think anyone is ready to roll the dice on that.

There would be some x amount of additional work to support Linux at
all, and that value of x may be large.

Then there is some y amount of work to support changes across both
OSes and that value may be large.

It has been shown again and again that if you have a good game, and
you release for Windows, you _will_ rake in the cash.

So Tom, no matter if it _is_ possible to do in Linux, I don't see that
happening any time soon because with the game houses, money talks.

It is totally a money thing.

The guys that are doing this like games like Steven Spielberg likes
movies and Steven is a billionaire.
