Asymmetric vs symmetric

Hi ... this is probably a kiddish question ... but anyway it crept into
my mind ...

Define security of an encrypted message as the probability that an
adversary without knowledge of the key can get some information about
the message from the ciphertext (more than the apriori knowledge
ofcourse) ... the lower this probability, the higher the security ...
under this definition can we say that asymmetric encryption algorithms
in general provide more security then the symmetric counterparts or
vice versa? ...
