This thread has nothing to do with variable length messages, but the
variable length of the output allowing 2^16 * 2^17 * ... * 2^32
possibilities rather than just 2^32.

And in reply to " But don't use your homebrew in any situation where

cryptography matters." Surly I should as it would be more secure due
to obscurity than anything else.

I posted in hope of some reply to how my solution would actually affect
the general probability of finding a collision rather than half-baked
ideas of "it might or might not work but I'll type a long message about
nothing anyway".
