My life is saved. That message was only sent to Phil Carmody by email using
Eudora, which as luck would have it has been incorrectly configured by the
department, and so the message has not escaped the room.

An example of technology malfunctioning when it should.

BTW, apologies to all for the ridiculous number of posts to this newsgroup.
These were mostly attempts to post replies to the group via google groups.
It didn't seem to be working over a period of two days, so I kept trying.
Eventually all the messages recondensed out of cyberspace. Repeat after me,
"I hate newsgroups. My goal is to quit."
